Man Utd Transfers: 7 Players Louis Van Gaal Needs To Get Rid Of Today

2. Tom Cleverley

One final midfield flop who needs casting aside today is Tom Cleverley. With his backwards and sideways passing, the "next Paul Scholes" he certainly isn't having broken into United's first team with expectations that he could emulate the legendary midfielder back in 2009. Since then, Cleverley has gone on to frustrate rather than fascinate. His tendency to shoot from wild angles and bother the stewards with pot shots makes him the bane of United supporters' lives and five years of unfulfilled potential is five years too many. He's only scored three league goals for United since graduating from their youth academy and you have to wonder what exactly it is that he adds to the team. Aston Villa and Valencia have been linked with moves over the last couple of days with the duo keen on rescuing him from his Old Trafford nightmare before today's transfer deadline, and each are welcome to the flop, whose proposed transfer has already been celebrated by sections of United's fanbase.
