Man Utd Transfers: 7 Reasons Why Gareth Bale Will Join In The Summer

4. Tough Crowd

Oh, those Madridistas. Even legends of the past, a gloried list including the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Iker Casillas and Cristiana Ronado, have been subjected to the boos of the home faithful at one time or another. Football fans are of course a fickle bunch. Usually the way to silence the critics is to win, however Real Madrid supporters have been known to boo even when things are going well. Take the 3-0 home win at Espanyol in January. Bale scored one of the goals that day, yet was still booed for choosing to shoot rather than passing to Ronaldo. The week before he was also booed for electing to shoot instead of passing to Karim Benzema in a game they lost 2-1. There are ways to win over the Madrid faithful. Take, for example, the Spanish midfielder Isco. Arguably as talented and creative as Bale, after a season on the fringes of the first team he is now an integral player for them. His statistics this season aren€™t much different to Bale, yet what the fans recognise in him is a selfless team-player willing to sacrifice his own game for the betterment of the team. In a team designed to maximise the output of luxury players such as Ronaldo, it is often the more selfless, hard-working players who the Madridistas take to. In recent weeks Gareth Bale has taken to shooting less, curbing the qualities of his own game, yet too often he appears still on the periphery of play, seemingly battling a lost cause.
