5. Andrea Pirlo
Andrea Pirlo has
put a string of British clubs on alert after announcing he is unsure if he will remain with Juventus beyond the end of the season. The Italy legend is on the radars of United and London rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham and is out of contract with the Serie A champions next summer. And that has led to speculation that the veteran could be on his way to Old Trafford. United's midfield weaknesses are known to all, but is signing a 34-year-old, even on a free contract, sensible? It may solve problems for the short term, but with the Red Devils still searching for a permanent, long-term successor to Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, Pirlo isn't it. Pirlo is similar to the aforementioned Baines in that he is past his prime and would bring only limited improvement to the United side, and Moyes must look elsewhere for more appropriate targets.
