4. Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso has been linked with a move to a series of sides recently but any rumours of an exit looked to have dispelled when Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti green lit a new contract for the midfielder. However, the ex-Liverpool man's future is again
shrouded in doubt after Ancelotti hinted Alonso's future may not lie at the Bernabeu after all. As such, the veteran pass-master is on United's radar, but any move would be ridiculous. Not only is he a former Liverpool player who Red Devils fans would hardly receive warmly at Old Trafford, but he is also 32, and very much on the fringes at Real, having only made 7 La Liga appearances this term. It is difficult to see what exactly Alonso would bring to United and is by no means a long-term fix to Moyes's current midfield dilemmas. Surely there are better alternatives.
