Widely touted to be one of the finest strikers of modern times, it's a shame that Radamel Falcao couldn't live up to the billing with Manchester United. He was only signed on a loan from AS Monaco, but nevertheless cost £6 million.

But for all the hoopla surrounding his arrival, the Colombian turned out to be a damp squib. He was only returning from a year-long absence due to a horrific injury, but clearly struggled to hit his stride in the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

With just four goals from 29 games, Falcao flattered to deceive big time. Such returns were particularly disappointing for the Red Devils faithfuls who waited to see his peerless side which racked up 225 goals in 314 appearances for Porto, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco.

Manchester United unsurprisingly refrained from signing him permanently that would have cost them another £43.5 million, and Falcao, after another failed loan stint with Chelsea, returned to Monaco in 2016 where he hit the throttle once again.
