Man Utd Transfers: 9 Worst Signings Of The Post-Ferguson Era
4. Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Borussia Dortmund have made a reputation for developing raw talents into world beaters. And even though Henrikh Mkhitaryan was no sui generis, he nonetheless shot to fame for his stellar performances with Der BVB which eventually earned him a move to Manchester United in 2016.
He came for only £27 million which appeared to be a bargain, but the Armenian international couldn't live up to his starry reputation unfortunately.
Apart from a few highlights such as a goal in the Europa League final victory and the scorpion kick against Sunderland, he struggled to impose himself. Mkhitaryan was nowhere near his best and managed just four goals and an assist in all competitions in his debut season.
Mkhitaryan then appeared to redeem himself in the 2017/18 season when he made five assists from the first three games, but his form dropped dramatically once again and was shipped to Arsenal in January as a part of an exchange deal which saw Alexis Sanchez head the other way.
