Man Utd Transfers Failure: 10 Deals Moyes Should Have Made

3. Luke Shaw - Southampton

One of the most talented English players in a long time, Southampton's Luke Shaw is only 18-years-old but has solidified himself in the Southampton starting 11 and it comes as no surprise that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are chasing the youngster's signature. He has been touted as the natural successor to Ashley Cole but that signing could have been ruined if David Moyes made a move in the January window rather than stirring up speculation. There were rumours in January that David Moyes would test Mauricio Pochettino and Southampton's resolve by enquiring about bringing Shaw to Old Trafford, especially since the departure of CEO Nicola Cortese sparked rumours that some big players, including Pochettino could be on their way out. However no such thing happened, the fans were aware of interest from Manchester United and rather than actually pouncing, Moyes played somewhat of a waiting game and ultimately waited too long and made no bid for a player they could have desperately used this season and for perhaps 15 further years. It seems as if Luke Shaw is holding out for a move to Chelsea, the team he supports but Moyes had the opportunity to trump any such deal and keep the fans very happy as well as providing the club with one of the brightest talents, someone who has been replicated as another Gareth Bale with his attacking style, something which is tailor-made for Manchester United. A big mistake not going in for Luke Shaw and if Moyes fails again in the summer the fans may not forgive him for this mistake.
