So far, the only signing new manager David Moyes has made is Guillermo Varela - the Uruguayan fullback bought from Atletico Penarol. Hardly a "marquee signing" that will appease the fans nor even a noteworthy one. Moyes has so far seen two bids for Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas rejected while other targets such as James Rodríguez, Radamel Falcao, Robert Lewandowski and Thiago Alcantara have gone elsewhere. It is fair to say the Scotsman hasn't had much joy thus far. However, now that August is upon us and we have entered the business end of the transfer market, we could be seeing a dramatic improvement in those regards between now and the closure of the window on September 2.
