3. Marouane Fellaini
With United so far
failing to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona, David Moyes could be about to abandon his pursuit of the Barcelona midfielder having seen two bids rejected. With new Barca manager Gerardo Martino stating outright that the Spanish champions would reject a third offer for the former Arsenal captain, Moyes should probably think about pursuing alternative targets this month. One option there is Everton's Marouane Fellaini.
Sources suggest Moyes is plotting a double swoop on Goodison Park for Fellaini and his team-mate Baines this summer as he aims to bolster the two areas of the squad that are most in need of improvement. Along with United's aforementioned defensive issues, their engine room has been left bereft by the retirement of Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher's ongoing illness that will again see the Scot
miss the start of the season. With Ryan Giggs in all probability entering the final season of his illustrious career along with uncertainty over Nani and Anderson as well as the fact Michael Carrick is touching the wrong side of 30, all signs point to the fact the Red Devils need midfield reinforcements. Fellaini is just the type of player United are crying out for. A box-to-box midfielder, the Belgian international is hard working, has high energy levels, a keen eye for picking out the right pass and carries a consistent aerial threat from set-pieces. He can play defensively as well as offensively and it is this dynamism that could really improve United's midfield next season.
