Man Utd Transfers: Predicting First 5 David Moyes Signings

1. Leighton Baines

The Everton left back is the bookmaker's favourite to become Moyes' first signing at Old Trafford but it is also a signing that would make a great deal of sense. Though Alexander Büttner certainly has the potential to one day become United's first choice left back, not enough has been seen of him to suggest he is capable of instantly succeeding from the 32-year old Patrice Evra, who is likely coming to the end of his Old Trafford playing days. Baines would be the perfect replacement for the veteran Frenchman, either short term or long term, but certainly the latter. He shares many similar traits with Evra, too, in that he isn't afraid to leave his position and contribute to the attack as a flying wingback and he has even demonstrated he has an eye for goal at times, too. Desperate to displace Ashley Cole in Roy Hodgson's World Cup team next year, a move to United would do him the world of good (pun intended) in those regards, and he has all the potential to become the best left back in the Premier League, if indeed he isn't there already.
