New Manchester United manager David Moyes will make his debut in the Group Stages of the Champions League tonight, and will be hoping to get off to a winning start following an indifferent pre-season and Premier League campaign so far. He will face a stern test however, against a team who finished third behind Champions League winners and finalists Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund last season and in a group also containing Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk and Spanish side Real Sociedad. Nevertheless, Moyes says he is excited about the challenges that lay ahead. The Scot told the
BBC:
"I've been excited about it ever since I've joined Manchester United. "I've been there before with Everton - we didn't quite make the group stages but this is different. This is a club that's used to getting to the latter stages."
And Moyes is well aware that United face a difficult time in Group A. He continued:
"You used to be able to always pick out the group winners but in the last few years that has become more difficult. "It is more unpredictable than it was. We've got a leading team from Germany, one from Spain and we go to Donetsk to play Shakhtar. It's a tough group."
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen
