Man Utd's Phil Jones & Chris Smalling In England Squad

Tom Cleverly also included for the qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales but Peter Crouch misses out.

Manchester United this season and after all appeared in the 8-2 thrashing of Arsenal today, England manager Fabio Capello has chosen youngsters Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverley for the England squad to face Bulgaria and Wales in the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers. Presumably Capello also had the equally impressive Danny Welbeck in mind for the squad before the player suffered a hamstring injury after scoring against the Gunners which has ruled him out. 19 year old Jones is included in the absence of his Utd team-mate Rio Ferdinand who has failed to recover from the hamstring injury he picked up against West Brom and the former Blackburn man will be hoping to pick up his first cap. He was outstanding today and for someone so young, looked like he had been playing for years at the heart of the English champions defence. Of course he will be competing with Smalling as well who was included in the last squad but has yet to come onto the pitch in an England shirt, though he is seen more as a replacement for Kyle Walker who misses out. Also not included is Spurs striker Peter Crouch who missed a few good chances against Manchester City today in a miserable day for Spurs. Here's the squad in full; Hart, Green, Stockdale; A Cole, Cahill, Terry, Baines. Jagielka, Smalling, Jones, Richards, Lescott; Downing, Barry, Johnson, Milner, Lampard, Cleverley, A Young, Parker, Walcott; Bent, Carroll, Rooney, Defoe.
