Marseille 1-2 Arsenal: Walcott And Ramsey Seal A Convincing Victory For The Visitors

Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners in Marseille Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey grab the headlines in a commanding performance by the Premier League side. After Marseilles and Arsenal went in 0-0 at the break, the fans were made to wait after the hour-mark until right-sided forward Theo Walcott scored with a terrific volley in the area to put the London outfit 1-0 up. Wales international Aaron Ramsey doubled the Gunners' advantage after jinking past two defenders and finishing via deflection with 5 minutes of normal time to play. Marseille were awarded a penalty late on after a foul given against Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey. The French side scored from the resulting spot-kick to halve the deficit, but it proved to be scant consolation as Arsenal ran out worthy winners. The victory meant it was now Arsenal's six successive win in all competitions since their opening day defeat to Aston Villa. Pundits hailed Aaron Ramsey as the side's man of the match for his performance against the French outfit. The 22-year old played alongside Mathieu Flamini in the centre of the park, and was assured on the ball for the duration. The goal he scored tonight was his six of the campaign already. He's the side's top scorer so far this season, and is showing no signs of stopping.
