There is somewhat of a shortage of good centres in the NBA today. Not so long ago Dwight Howard would have filled this slot without question, but ever since he went ring chasing to LA and Houston he has fallen far from the all star conversation.

Right now there are only two names in this conversation, and they happen to play for the same team (at least for the moment); DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis. (Kawhi Leonard will be a close third behind these two as another forward starter and Karl-Anthony Towns will be in this conversation next year).

Between Davis and Cousins, Davis is the better centre, and the better overall player. Cousins has a history of getting in trouble with referees, his coaches and his teammates, and the recent trade talk surrounding him may well affect his performance next season.

Davis, however, is the picture of consistency, averaging a double double and at least 20 points per game in his last four seasons, all of which earned him a place in the all star game, and he even won the 2017 all star game MVP.

The only season Davis wasn't an all star was his rookie year, and there is no way this trend doesn't continue next year.
