Neil Warnock is New Leeds United Manager

Neil Warnock has been appointed the new manager of Leeds United. The Whites have confirmed the hiring this (Saturday) morning and the ex-Sheffield United boss has been granted a contract at the Yorkshire club until the end of the 2012/2013 campaign. So basically it is less than an 18 month contract and only applies until the end of next season. Leeds sacked previous manager Simon Grayson on February 1st as the club were slipping slightly away from the play-off places and have take their time to appointment a replacement. Warnock, who was sacked himself just last month at Premier League outfit Queens Park Rangers, was instantly made one of the bookies favourites for the role. Though there were a few other candidates in the frame, most noticeably two fellow sacked managers in Mick McCarthy and Lee Clark of Wolves and Huddersfield Town respectively, who were fired this week. Caretaker manager Neil Redfearn was also thought of to be in contention, but the two defeats the club suffered under his stewardship this month has cost him. Warnock's CV boosts taking QPR and Sheffield United up to the Premier League, something in the next 18 months he has been tasked to achieve with Leeds United.
