Newcastle 1-0 Leicester: 6 Key Lessons For Pardew

3. Bring Rolando Aarons Back Into The First Team

You really can't knock Yoan Gouffran's industry or his commitment to the cause: under Pardew's guidance, he will run and run without really doing too much in terms of progressive attacking play. That is mostly thanks to the manager's agenda to play him too deep and blunt his attacking threat in favour of making him track back and help out in midfield, but whatever the cause it is far from an ideal situation. If there's one thing that Gabriel Obertan's unlikely (and possibly temporary) renaissance proved, it is that direct players who are willing and capable of running at defenders are key to Newcastle doing well. And the one player currently at the club who looks the most exciting in those terms will thankfully return fully from injury in the next few weeks. Rolando Aarons might be young (and thus counter to Pardew's call for experience), but he is quick, skilful and progressive, and will offer far more attacking thrust than Gouffran.
