Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - 6 Best (And 6 Worst) NUFC Performances

... And The Worst Performances...

6. Southampton 4-0 Newcastle United (Premier League - September 13th, 2014)

This was the day when John Carver argued with Newcastle supporters before the match due to the fact they were carrying anti-Alan Pardew signs - but that was just the very start of a dreadful day for the Magpies. Things got a lot worse - and very quickly. Graziano Pelle rose, unmarked, after only six minutes to head in Ryan Bertrand's cross - before Mike Williamson committed a horrendous defensive blunder. A long punt downfield from the Saints were misjudged by the centre-back, and that allowed Dusan Tadic to square for Pelle to grab his second after 19 minutes. Two became three in the 54th minute when Williamson again misjudged a through-ball, which Jack Cork instead collected and slotted home. Newcastle's misery was complete in injury-time when Morgan Schneiderlin curled a majestic shot past Tim Krul and into the far corner - ensuring it really was a complete rout. For the second-successive season Newcastle had been thumped 4-0 at St Mary's Stadium, and their surrender this time around was frankly embarrassing.
