Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - Player Ratings

27. Steven Taylor - 6

Absence can perhaps make the heart grow fonder - and possibly that is the reason why Taylor gets a par-for-the-course score of 6 this season. What's clear is that, had Taylor been fit for the second-half of this season, then Newcastle would not have been so dearly lacking in leadership at the back - and they might have at least been able to defend the odd set-piece competently. The 29-year-old is far-too regularly injured though and he needs to sort that out going forward, although he was largely reliable during his 10 Premier League appearances this season.
