No Newcastle fan wanted John Carver in charge when they called for Alan Pardew's head - and they had good right to want rid of the now Crystal Palace boss, because the Magpies failed to win any of their opening seven Premier League games. Yes Pardew did inspire Newcastle to a magnificent six-game winning run during October and November, but in general his time on Tyneside had become stale. He had a 43.5% win ratio this season in all competitions before he left for Palace - a record greatly improved by the Magpies' progress in the Capital One Cup it must be noted - and Newcastle needed a change. However, Pardew's excuses were merely replaced by the next man...
