Newcastle 2014-15 Season Review - Player Ratings

9. Papiss Cisse - 7.5

Appearances (All Competitions): 11 (11) Minutes Played (Premier League): 1,154 Assists (All Competitions): 1 Goals (All Competitions): 11 Yellow Cards (Premier League): 1 Red Cards (Premier League): 0 (but suspended for a total of 10 matches)
In terms of his contribution as a striker, Cisse deserves a 9 at least - because he scored 11 goals, and Newcastle collected 30 of their 39 points with the Senegalese forward in the side. His goals kept the Magpies in the Premier League. Yet when you factor in his injuries, his time spent away on Africa Cup of Nations duty and, most-frustratingly, the 10 matches he was suspended for after retrospective action was taken for his elbow on Everton's Seamus Coleman and his decision to spit at Manchester United's Jonny Evans, then Cisse wasn't actually on the pitch often enough. If Cisse had been available for those 10 matches then Newcastle would not have been in the dire position they found themselves in - and for that his score suffers.
