5. Newcastle Are The New Comeback Kings
Before their game against Chelsea at the start of February Newcastle had not come from behind to win under Pardew in the league and their run without coming from behind stretched all the way back to October 2010. Since the Chelsea game though Newcastle have done it three times in just three home matches. They were 2-1 behind to Chelsea before winning 3-2 and 1-0 down to Southampton before winning 4-2. There was more of the same on Sunday as The Magpies turned around a 1-0 deficit to make it three in a row at home. This showed us quite a lot about the new Newcastle: the first half of the season was disappointing for Newcastle fans as their threadbare squad struggled to cope with the Europe League and the Premiership but since the return from injury of key players and the new signings arrived there seems to be a new resilience about them. When not coming from behind for so long that will play on the minds of players but the new Newcastle dont seem to become fazed and are urged on by the disappointment of falling behind. This has been a huge factor in their recent resurgence and this ability can only aid them through the rest of the season. With a much larger group to choose from it means that there is more quality on the bench and there can be more rotation meaning legs are fresher late on in matches allowing Newcastle to have this never say die attitude.
