Newcastle Interested In Almeria Playmaker Aleix Vidal

Newcastle are hoping to make a second successful transfer raid in Spain with Almeria playmaker Aleix Vidal rumoured to be a new name on our transfer shortlist. Having already agreed a deal to sign Ayoze Perez from Spanish second division side Tenerife and Sky Sports are suggesting that we've now set our sights on Vidal following an impressive season from the 24-year-old in what was his first playing in La Liga. The 24-year-old scored six goals and assisted five other in 38 games as he helped Almeria remain in the top-flight by the skin of their teeth and his performances have alerted several Premier League clubs including Aston Villa, Everton and West Ham. Although we're encouraged by the Club's efforts to extend their gaze across Europe instead of focusing solely on recruiting from France there remains a sense of trepidation regarding whether both Vidal and Perez could make an immediate impact in the Premier League. More over is the reported interest in Vidal an indication that they are seeking cheaper alternatives to Remy Cabella and Clement Grenier, who've emerged as the leading candidates to fill the creative void left by Yohan Cabaye. It certainly wouldn't surprise us if the £4-million rated Vidal - talented but unproven - took precedent over Cabella and Grenier whose respective values are three times that of the Spanish attacker's.
