Newcastle "Plan Clearout" Of Squad Deadwood - With Three Players "Up For Sale"

NUFC seem to be overhauling their squad at a pretty rapid pace.

Newcastle United are planning to clear out the deadwood in their squad by attempting to move on at least three players this summer, according to a report. Star striker Papiss Cisse, flop forward Emmanuel Riviere and £12 million playmaker Remy Cabella could all be shipped out of St James' Park in order to make way for the influx of players the Magpies hope to sign, according to the Daily Mirror. Reports have emerged all summer of Newcastle supposedly hoping to recoup £10 million for Cisse, who netted 11 goals in just 22 games last season, in order to fund a move for a replacement forward. He has been consistently linked with a move to Turkey. Aleksandar Mitrovic is expected to sign on the dotted line at the Magpies in the coming days for a £12.3 million fee, while Charlie Austin remains firmly in the Magpies' sights after they launched a £13 million bid late last week. The need for two strikers is made even more pressing by Riviere's inability to find the target on a regular basis last season - he scored just once in the Premier League and three times in all competitions - and the £6 million man could also be moved on as he is unlikely to feature in Steve McClaren's plans. Cabella, meanwhile, has been linked with a return to France with Marseille - and, after suffering a quadriceps injury that is due to keep him out for six-to-eight weeks, he could well leave Tyneside as well this summer.
