Newcastle Transfer News: Rubin Kazan Want Papiss Cisse?

Daily Mail. Cisse has been training alone after being left out of the Magpie's pre-season trip to Portugal as his refusal to wear kit emblazoned with the Wonga logo - the club's new sponsor - continues to escalate. Wonga, the short-term money lending company, last year signed a four-year agreement with the North East club to have their logo featured on the front of Newcastle€™s black and white shirts from next season. The deal is reportedly worth £8 million a year to the Magpies. But Cisse claims wearing it goes against his strict Islamic beliefs Under Sharia Law, Muslims must not benefit from either lending or receiving money from another person. Cisse was happy to wear the logos of previous sponsors Northern Rock and Virgin Money but informed club chiefs he felt uncomfortable adorning the Wonga brand image. The former Freiburg striker, who moved to St James' Park for £9 million in January 2012, has offered to wear a charity-sponsored kit in an effort to resolve the situation. However, that proposal has so far been rejected by the club. And if the two parties cannot find a solution to this current impasse, Kazan are waiting in the wings.
