Newcastle United are looking to reunite Quincy Promes with his former FC Twente manager Steve McClaren on Tyneside. The Dutch international winger would be available for a fee in the region of £12 million this summer and the Magpies had a scout watching him during the USA's 4-3 victory over Holland at the weekend, according to clubcall.com. Having started his career at FC Twente during McClaren's second tenure with the Dutch club, 23-year-old Promes then moved to Spartak Moscow for £10 million last summer. However, McClaren - who is expected to be named as Toon boss within the coming days - hopes to be reunited with the 5ft 9in Promes, who is a pacey winger with a eye for goal, on Tyneside. Last season, Promes netted 13 goals in just 28 games for Spartak from the wing and caught the eye of several European clubs. His versatility - he can play anywhere across the front three - particularly interests Newcastle and the fact Promes is quick on the counter attack would certainly add a new dimension to the Magpies going forward. Having made four Eredivisie appearances for FC Twente, Promes then spent a season on loan as Go Ahead Eagles where he netted 17 goals in 41 games. After returning to Twente and contributing 11 goals in a further 31 games, Promes then moved to Spartak last summer.
