Newcastle Transfers: 10 Big Deals Linked For January Already

10. Danny Ings

Linked By:Daily Mail Young, British and a hard-worker, Burnley's 22-year-old striker is exactly the type of player Alan Pardew would carry to Newcastle on his back if he thought there was a chance of getting him. The Mail say because he's yet to sign a new contract, there's an opportunity for Newcastle to go head to head with Villa for his attention. Chances? Well, he's cheap, because his contract is running down, and if he gets a sniff of a better offer, or a greater opportunity to build his profile, he will turn down Burnley's attempts to give him a new contract. That would either mean he'll leave in the summer - with a compensation fee of around £3m, as he's under 23 - or he will be sold in January for less than his £10m valuation, but more than the £3m to maximise profit. If it stayed under £6m or so, Newcastle would be daft not to look.
