Newcastle Transfers: 10 Defenders Pardew Must Consider In January
6. Marcelo
Club: Hannover 96 Brazilian Marcelo might have the biggest claim to being the most underrated talent in Germany at the minute. Signed in 2013 from PSV, the imposing 27-year-old has been the heart-beat of Hannover's defence ever since, but hasn't attracted the same attention and adulation of the German talents in his position. He is strong in the tackle, effective in duels, both on the ground and in the air, has massive physical presence and can play the ball out from the back. He's basically a new improved version of Mike Williamson. Unfortunately he has proved he can get caught, but he's fast enough to recover (unlike Wiliamson) and he is a legitimately big talent who will attract more attention soon.
