Newcastle Transfers: 10 Defenders Pardew Must Consider In January

7. Lewis Dunk

Club: Brighton If Liverpool legend Sami Hyypia says your'e a good defender, you're probably a good defender. The Brighton manager might be struggling at the minute to drag Gus Poyet's former team up the league (partly because he lost Leonardo Ulloa and Will Buckley in January), but he has seen great form from young English centre-back Lewis Dunk. He has been the stand out in a poor Brighton team who currently sit in 20th - just a point above relegation - and Hyypia has conceded that he expects bids for his star player in January. According to the Express, the two biggest interested parties will be Spurs and Newcastle, and he would certainly fit Alan Pardew's renewed interest in adding English talent to his side. He'd probably take some time to bed in, but a future English stock of Paul Dummett, Steven Taylor, Jamaal Lascelles, Dunk and Remie Streete to choose from would probably be Pardew's dream.
