Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players Alan Pardew Must Sign Before Man City

5. Bruno Martins-Indi

Current Club: Feyenoord Position: Centre-Back A versatile defender who can operate at both left-back and in the centre, Martins-Indi has been nicknamed "the Utility Man" and should be a player that ranks high on Pardew's transfer shopping list. It's no coincidence that his eye-catching form for Feyenoord has seen him linked with Manchester United in recent weeks - although we suspect Louis Van Gaal's appointment as manager at Old Trafford facilitated that interest - and earned the 22-year-old a starting spot in the heart of Holland's defence at the World Cup alongside club-mate Stefan De Vrij. Martins-Indi, standing at 6'1, is an imperious and imposing presence at centre-back and offered us a first-hand demonstration of his aerial dominance, pace and peerless reading of the game during Oranje's incredible 5-1 thrashing of world champions Spain last week. At a time when Pardew should be thinking about upgrading his defensive options the Portugal-born Dutch international would be a solid albeit cultured addition to our flaky rearguard.
