Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players From The World Cup To Sign
4. Giovani dos Santos - Mexico
The definition of a footballing enigma. In England, people have complained for year's that Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney haven't recreated their club form on the international stage enough. Well, for Giovani dos Santos it is rather the opposite. A regular, exciting talent with the freedom to cause havoc for any opposition when in the green of his native Mexico, Gio has never fully stuck at a club during his career, despitew being dubbed "the new Ronaldinho" from an early age. A graduate from the famous FC Barcelona La Masia academy, the son of former Brazilian footballer Zizinho is well known to these shores thanks to an ill-fated spell at Tottenham Hotspur between 2008 and 2012 that included a number of loan spells, including to Ipswich Town. If he has found a home, it is in Spain, where he currently plies his trade for Villarreal, helping "The Yellow Submarine" into the Europa League with 11 goals from his deep lying striker role. He is a man that, despite spending four years at White Hart Lane, never got a fair crack of the whip in the Premier League for whatever reason, but now at 25 and at the peak of his physical powers has the talent to prove he's more than the show pony that many criticised him as being. It is a mystery to many why the boy from Montarrey has never quite cracked it at club level, but with dribbling skills to match anyone and an eye for goal, were he ever to grace English footb all again, Newcastle should definitely watch him. His physique isn't typically suited to the game in this country, and he may struggle on a cold Wednesday night in Stoke, but then again, he may not... Stranger things have happened. Take the punt, Alan (Mike)!
