Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players From The World Cup To Sign
3. Victor Ibarbo - Colombia
Colombia's blistering winger Victor Ibarbo is the man on this list with the biggest opportunity to impress on the world stage this summer. His country are one of the "dark horses" in Brazil after storming to qualification by finishing second the South American table behind Argentina, albeit in the absence of the hosts, who would likely have given them a sterner test. During the season, though, disaster struck for a whole nation. Star striker and talisman, Radamel Falcao, top scorer in qualifying suffered a knee injury that would rule him out of the tournament. This, however, brought a whole host of attacking talent in the squad, including Ibarbo, further into the reckoning. Sure enough, the Caligari player kicked off his campaign in the starting line up and impressed in their 3-0 win over Greece. He first shot to prominence on the international stage with a goal in a friendly match against everyone's new favourites Belgium, while also impressing in Serie A since moving there in 2011. Much like Perisic, Ibarbo's 6 foot 2 frame, coupled with his pace and added to by his intent to attack and tricky nature make him a candidate to succeed in the Premier League and in a Newcastle side that, as mentioned before, lacks but cries out for natural width. At 24, Ibarbo may well be looking to move away from Caligari as he grows into his best years. The Premier League is the place to be, and Victor, the Geordies love Colombians, just ask Tino!
