Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players From The World Cup To Sign
5. Granit Xhaka - Switzerland
21-year-old Switzerland and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka is a real prospect. His energetic dynamism and runs from deep make him a fantastic option in central midfield. Although Jack Colback recently signed, Xhaka's ability in transitional play and stamina would make him the perfect replacement for Yohan Cabaye, not to mention his incredible sell on value if he was to become a success in the Premier League. At 6 foot tall, his presence in the middle would give him every chance of that. Many fans have voiced displeasure over the signing of Colback, despite coming "home" from bitter rivals Sunderland. There was even a suggestion that the player tried to back out of the move after signing his contract through fear of a backlash from Wearside. It wasn't necesarily the move that frustrates fans here, it is the fact that he isn't the most exciting of additions. Xhaka, althoiugh still young and quite raw, would be exactly that, exciting and someone who could make a big impression on the Geordie faithful. Despite his age, Xhaka's big game experience is also an attractive proposition, having played in the Champions League for FC Basel, before moving to Gladbach in 2012 and making 50 appearances since. The role he played in his country's opening game victory over Ecuador in the World Cup cannot be overlooked either. Of all those on this list, Alan Pardew should take the closest look at Granit Xhaka, who would become a real cult hero on Tyneside. He might cost a few bob though...
