Newcastle Transfers: 5 Cheaper Alternatives To Loic Remy

2. Demba Ba

Demba Ba has had a truly torrid time of things since leaving Newcastle for Chelsea 12 months ago. The Senegal striker is way out of the reckoning at Stamford Bridge at present with Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o both ahead of him in the pecking order, limiting him to just eight appearances this season. And now, Newcastle are prepare to rescue Ba from his west London misery by taking him back on loan, exactly one year after he walked out on the club. Chelsea are prepared to do business with the Magpies but will likely demand a £3 million loan fee, while they are also prepared to sell permanently for £10 million. Newcastle could either bring Ba in on a temporary basis to provide cover for Remy, or sign him permanently as a replacement should the Frenchman head back to QPR. Either way, Ba's capture still represents a sensible option.
