Newcastle Transfers: 5 Replacements For Papiss Cisse

4. Andre-Pierre-Gignac

Another French star Newcastle could import this summer is Marseille's Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has been linked recently with a £12 million move to the North East. While Gomis has earned comparisons with Didier Drogba, Gignac has been heralded as "a British style centre forward in the Alan Shearer mould", and is a former target of Arsenal and Manchester United. He is well known to Newcastle's chief scout Graham Carr, and could be back on the Magpie's radar again this summer after they missed out on a number of top striker targets. Wilfried Bony has joined Swansea while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has joined Borussia Dortmund, and so Gignac, who netted 13 times in Ligue 1 last season, could be an alternative, and a replacement for Papiss Cisse.
