2. Demba Ba
Perhaps another controversial option for a Papiss Cisse replacement is Demba Ba. The Senegal international walked out on the club in January in order to sign for Chelsea but his time at Stamford Bridge has been something of a disaster since. The 28-year-old only managed to hit two league goals and just the 6 in his 22 overall appearances for the Blues. The former Hoffenheim man has been linked with a
summer move to Russia having apparently been deemed surplus to requirements in West London by new manager Jose Mourinho. The Europa League champions have already signed German international Andre Schurlle while they are also chasing Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, which, when combined with the continued presence of Fernando Torres as well as the return of Romelu Lukaku from his loan spell at West Brom, leaves Ba looking like a spare part at the club. Last month, it
was reported that Newcastle could be interested in re-signing the striker, who, in spite of only playing half of last season's Premier League at St James' Park, astonishingly finished as the club's joint-top scorer with Papiss Cisse. A loan move for Ba could suit both parties - with Chelsea not needing his services and the Magpies desperate for a "new" forward.
