Newcastle Transfers: 5 Strikers To Replace Demba Ba

4. Kévin Gameiro

Kevin Kévin Gameiro was constantly linked with a move to Newcastle throughout the summer of 2011, and even had an offer of £10million accepted by his then club Lorient. Negotiations with the player proved fruitless however and the Magpies ended up withdrawing their interest which paved the way for his move to PSG last year. In spite of Gameiro signing a 4 year deal at the Park Des Princes, his opening season there did not go to plan, with him struggling to hold down a place and managing only 14 goals. There were also rumours of a falling out with manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has since reportedly instructed the player to find himself a new employer, which has alerted the Magpies to his potential availability, and their interest in the player has not been forgotten. Malaga are also interested though, so Alan Pardew will have to move fast if he is to avoid enduring a second setback to land the player. Source(s): The Northern Echo
