Newcastle Transfers: 9 Forwards Pardew Must Consider In January

4. Konstantinos Mitroglou (Olympiakos)

Reports in Newcastle's Evening Chronicle last month claimed that their sources in Athens had indicated that the Magpies had ran the rule over 25 year old Greek international striker Konstantinos Mitroglou, who also attracted the attention of Liverpool and Arsenal. They suggested that Papiss Cisse might be on his way out in January, thanks to his lack of first team opportunities recently, and that a deal could make way for Mitroglou, who could attract bids of around £7.5m. The striker has scored 17 goals in all competitions for his club, as well as 6 goals for his country - an impressive tally that includes four hat-tricks - and in the past he has attracted the attention of Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan. The signing would be a considerable coup for Newcastle, but given the quality of other players linked by the media outlets (and to the collected surprise of Newcastle fans) he would fit the profile of players the club are considering.
