Newcastle Transfers: Ranking Alan Pardew's 10 Best Signings

5. Yohan Cabaye - £4.3 Million From Lille

Yohan Cabaye has gone on to become one of Newcastle's more influential players since joining from Lille in 2011 for an astute £4.3 million. The attacking midfielder has scored 10 league goals in 60 appearances for the Magpies and is usually in the thick of the action going forward, creating two assists last season and nine in the campaign prior. His form led to interest from Arsenal over the summer, who submitted a £10 million bid for the Frenchman, which goes to show what a talent he is. Cabaye ended up staying at Newcastle but not before going on strike, a decision which coincided with his side's 4-0 battering by City - a result, Alan Pardew pointed out, would not have happened had Cabaye played. And that just goes to show the midfielder's influence on this side.
