Newcastle Transfers: Ranking Alan Pardew's 10 Best Signings

4. Hatem Ben Arfa - £5 Million From Marseille

Much like Davide Santon, the £5 million capture of Hatem Ben Arfa from Marseille in 2011 was also viewed as a massive coup. Upon arriving at Newcastle, the winger was regarded as one of the most naturally talented players in France and one of the most technically gifted youngsters in European football. And though a patchy injury record has occasionally blighted his time on Tyneside, the France international has still been able to impress at St James' Park, scoring four and creating two assists in 19 appearances last season. The tricky wide-man has also netted already for the Magpies this season, and brings real quality to their midfield, so much so, he's been offered a new contract to stop him from going to Liverpool.
