Much like Davide Santon, the £5 million capture of Hatem Ben Arfa from Marseille in 2011 was also viewed as a massive coup. Upon arriving at Newcastle, the winger was regarded as one of the most naturally talented players in France and one of the most technically gifted youngsters in European football.
