3. Yoan Gouffran
Pronunciation: Yo-an Goo-fran Position: Striker/Winger Former Club: Bordeaux Age: 26 Fee: £1.2 million
What to expect: A poor scoring record on Wikipedia might turn some fans off Gouffran from the beginning but it looks like Yoan is a late bloomer with the striker really coming into his own in the last 18 months. The striker-come-winger was top scorer for Bordeaux last season with 14 goals and has managed 10 in 22 in Ligue 1 so far this season, a fairly prolific record. Speed is his main repertoire and he should provide a threat from set pieces, both things that are missing from Newcastle Uniteds playbook.
First team: Gouffran would appear to be more of a squad player really but should Pardew look to have 2 men up front expect him to partner Cisse ahead of Ameobi (except against Sunderland). His ability to play on the wing could see him break into the side sooner than anticipated with first choice right winger Hatem Ben Arfa still sidelined with a hamstring injury. http://youtu.be/b7W02wDCmzQ
