6. Newcastle Secretly Want Ba To Leave - African Cup of Nations
As mentioned in the previous point, Ba only missed league games for United last season because of his international duty for the African Cup of Nations. With a repeat of that tournament to take place in January 2013, United would likely lose both Ba and striker Papiss Cisse once again, leaving the Mags in the lurch for another January period with 3rd and 4th choice selections. Newcastle would much prefer to have a first choice striker to choose from with Cisse (who is unlikely to leave) away on international duty and may look to replace Ba for this reason.
