Ayoze Perez is yet to be used by Steve McClaren this season but could be given a start this week as Newcastle look to improve on their midfield performance. The Spanish attacker played in a deeper midfield position during a number of pre-season friendlies and would offer a more compact central three alongside Georginio Wijnaludum and Jack Colback. The 22-year-old can offer a lot going forward and could combine well with Florian Thauvin and Gabriel Obertan as the Magpies look to break on the counter-attack. If Perez isn't selected this week then it sparks further concerns that McClaren doesn't trust him and we could see another naturally talented footballer heading out of St James' Park.
