4. Mevlüt Erdinç

Most Newcastle fans will remember this guy as the club came quite close to signing him this time last year. Well as you know, that didn't happen and he ended up at Rennes
this January. However, it was reported in that same month - before we signed Papiss Cissé - that Erdinc was backs on Graham Carr's radar and that a move to St.James' Park could finally happen for the Turk. Perhaps this season it will. While the Toon probably won't sign another forward despite the interest in Andy Carroll - things can change between now and May 17th. Erdinç is still only 25 and about to hit the prime of his career. He's a very good finisher from what I watched of him and wouldn't go astray on Tyneside. He'd only be a contingency plan, but with a probable fee in the region of £7m or so - I wouldn't strike him off the list just yet. He's not a realistic target this summer, but come January, you don't know how things will have unfolded.
