Newcastle United's Yohan Cabaye Banned For 3 Matches

Cabaye was charged following a stamping incident in Newcastle's FA Cup Fourth Round defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion this past Saturday 28th January.

Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has lost his appeal at a Regulatory Commission hearing today and he will now be suspended for three matches for violent conduct. Shockingly, this means Cabaye will miss tonight's match at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League, a decision made just a few hours before kick-off which is not ideal for manager Alan Pardew who must now reshuffle his side to accommodate the loss of a key man. The French midfielder will also miss his clubs games against Aston Villa (home on Sunday) and Tottenham Hotspur (away a week on Saturday). Cabaye was charged following a stamping incident in Newcastle's FA Cup Fourth Round defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion this past Saturday 28th January. Newcastle boss Alan Pardew's reaction to the FA Charge; €œI€™m absolutely livid about that, if I€™m honest. After the game someone asked me about the TV coverage, and especially presenter Ray Stubbs. €œ(Cabaye) tried to stop the boy from falling on him. €œYesterday we had a call from Brighton€™s coaching team suggesting the player wants to support our player. €œWe€™ve sent a strong letter (to the FA), and we asked the Brighton player if they would forward a letter to us, which they kindly did. €œI really think they need to take a deep breath on this one.€
