Newcastle's Next Opponents: Everything You Need To Know About Swansea

Swansea City are up next for NUFC - here's everything you need to know about them...

After securing a 2-2 draw at home to Southampton, Newcastle United will now turn their attention to their trip to the Liberty Stadium. Swansea City started their 2015-16 Barclays Premier League campaign with an impressive 2-2 draw against Champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge so Steve McClaren's men will know they have an extremely tough task ahead of them. Last season, Newcastle managed to leave south Wales with a point after securing a 2-2 draw, although they did lose 3-2 at home to the Swans, and with both teams starting the season in strong fashion in their opening games, it should be an entertaining watch. Obviously a lot has changed since that 3-2 defeat in late April and the Magpies should expect to provide a sterner test to a side that finished in an extremely-respectable eighth last season. Wilfried Bony may have left in January 2015 but this is a team with serious aspirations and the performance against Chelsea was one of a team that could have a Southampton-esque rise up the league this year if things go right for them. With that in mind, the Magpies will need to be on top form to get a result to match their last visit to the Principality. To understand a bit more about who exactly Newcastle United will be facing this weekend, here is a short guide to Swansea City - and everything Magpies supporters need to know about the Welsh side.
