A man who played non-league football right up until the latter stages of his career, Alan Pardew was a hard-working midfielder but again he has been a far-more successful manager than player. Famous in south London for his goal against Liverpool in the 1990 FA Cup final, that was one of just 10 strikes he netted for the Eagles in more than 150 appearances. Never close to getting an international cap, and deserves his place at 13th.
