Newcastle's Premier League Run-In - Every Eventuality For Magpies, Sunderland And Hull

5. Newcastle Draw, Hull Win And Sunderland Get At Least One Point - Black Cats And Tigers Survive But Magpies Are Relegated (On Goal Difference)

Newcastle United draw with West Ham United Hull City beat Manchester United Sunderland get at least a point from their matches at Arsenal and Chelsea Outcome: Sunderland survive, Hull also stay up, Newcastle are relegated (on goal difference) This is where a draw could be painful for Newcastle - and could condemn the Magpies to a second relegation in seven seasons. If Hull triumph against Man United, and Sunderland manage to pick up even just a solitary point from their matches (or more, for that matter), then a draw for Newcastle will see them drop down into the Championship on goal difference. They will have 37 points, as will Hull, but their goal difference will be worse than the Tigers'. The Tigers' goal difference of -18 is significantly better than the Magpies' -25 already, plus Hull's is guaranteed to improve should they beat the Red Devils. Steve Bruce would have relegated the club he supported as a boy on goal difference should this scenario pan out.
