10 Hardest Working Newcastle Players Ever

3. Daryl Janmaat

Played for Newcastle: 2014-Present Position: Right Full-Back League Appearances: 40 League goals: 2 Alongside Jack Colback, Daryl Janmaat represents the other hardest working player of Newcastle's current crop. During his first season for the club, the Dutchman had ran 93.68 miles by December and earned a spot on Opta's hardest working Premier League Players list. He was also the only defender to appear on the list as it was mainly made up for box-to-box midfielders such as Nemanja Matic, Ki Sung-Yeung and Dusan Tadic. Janmaat joined Newcastle United on a six-year deal for an undisclosed fee in July 2014 and has made 40 league appearances for the Magpies, scoring two goals. He replaced Mathieu Debuchy who signed for Arsenal and immediately became a hit with the fans due to his classy, disciplined defending and his powerful driving runs forward. The defender represents a perfect modern full back who is in peak condition and has the ability to play extremely high up the pitch. His over-lapping play is a crucial part of Steve McClaren's attacking tactics and he consistently provides support for the right winger. Janmaat is one of the best players at Newcastle United and his commanding runs down the flanks will be more rewarded now he has Florian Thauvin to pick him out.
