Newcastle's Top-10 Summer Striking Targets Ranked By Goals-Per-Game Ratio

1. Charlie Austin - 0.61 (216 in 350)

2014-15 GOALSCORING RATIO: 0.50 (18 GOALS IN 36 GAMES) Newcastle United's No 1 target this summer - and you can see exactly why. Throughout his career to date, Charlie Austin has netted a mind-blowing 216 goals in just 350 appearances (for Kintbury Rangers, Hungerford Town, Thatcham Town, Poole Town, Swindon Town, Burnley and Queens Park Rangers) - or an average of 0.61 strikes per game. Austin may have played a large proportion of those games in the non-league and lower leagues, but his return of 18 goals in 36 games last season for QPR in the Premier League is also extremely impressive. A proven goalscorer who has been called into the England squad and who averages a goal every other game in the Premier League - surely Austin is worth the £12 million-£15 million QPR are asking for him? But will the Magpies meet the asking price? That remains to be seen... And here's a table of how these 10 strikers ranked for their goalscoring ratios during the 2014-15 season...
