Many of the starting QBs were given just seconds to impress, though the Vikings allowed Teddy Bridgewater just a fraction more time, and he picked up exactly where he left off from a superb rookie season. He completed 7 out of 8 passes for 86yds. He looked calm, confident, and ready to impress the league once again, with the Vikings looking like a very capable team ahead of the season. As for backups around the league, Redskins' Kirk Cousins applied more pressure on RGIII with a display that saw him connect 12 out of 14 passes for 159yds, while Ryan Mallett looked good for the Texans, completing 10 out of 11 for 90yds. The Texans' battle for the QB spot is an interesting one, though Brian Hoyer looks set to start. The ex-Browns man completed 2 out of 4 passes for 67yds, including a 58yd TD pass to Cecil Shorts III. They may not be exceptional QBs, but the Texans could be a wildcard shout if one of them kicks into gear and their defence stars.
